Charity & Community Work
At Roys, we consider ourselves a part of the community around all of our stores. We engage with the local area & do all we can to help wherever possible. After all, it's our customers & staff that have kept us going for 130 years so it is our privilege to give something back to the communities. We are inundated with requests from clubs, groups, charities, schools and many others asking for raffle prizes and products for events, last year we managed to help 313 charities & good causes.
Throughout 2024 in total we raised over £44,600 through 10p carrier bag sales, donations from the Making a Difference Locally Fund (MADL), raffle and product donations and raising money in other ways such as wearing fancy dress on special days and in-store collections.
How much we raised for our charities of the year in 2024
A huge thank you to all of our amazing staff and customers who helped contribute to these fantastic results
Meet our charities of the year 2025
Each year we choose new charities for our stores to support. Our stores each support their own charities, with some stores sharing a cause, which are nominated and voted by staff in the stores.
Roys will also continue to donate to other charities and groups with the MADL fund and try to help with as many other requests as possible.

Priscilla Bacon Hospice
Wroxham Food Hall, Fuel Station, Head Office and Pinetrees Warehouse
"Priscilla Bacon Lodge is a much valued part of Norfolk’s healthcare landscape. Yet, with only 16 beds, the building, facilities and surrounding environment no longer meet the need of our community. This charity was set up to fundraise for and build the new hospice on an 8-acre site next to the N & N Hospital."

It's On The Ball

"Our hospices are fun, happy and homely places for children to be children, and a dependable, supportive and restful space for families to be families."

Sandra Chapman Centre

Little Lifts
Roys of North Walsham

Norfolk Deaf Children's Society
Roys of Norwich - Magdalen Street
"The Norfolk DCS today is made up of parents of deaf children, young deaf people, people who work with deaf children and friends and family of both deaf children and of the Society. How the money is raised
These donations are taken from the sales of our plastic bags. Every time you buy a carrier bag in one our stores, we donate 10p to that store's Charity of the Year. So if you forget your shopping bags, at least you're helping a great charity!

Making a Difference Locally
MADL (Making a difference locally) is a charity organisation that we've partnered with to support good causes in the local community. They help us to raise money which we donate to local charities and good causes in the community such as schools, churches, children’s groups, environmental projects and much more.
Last Year We Donated
£12,165
to local good causes using the MADL fund
How it Works
Donations are made into our charity fund based on the sales of selected grocery products as indicated in our leaflets. Roys then donate money from this fund to local charities and good causes.
To be considered for the MADL fund or to ask for a raffle donation please contact [email protected] telling us a bit about your charity or project and how you would like help. Please note we are only able to help causes local to our stores unless there are unusual circumstances.
