Highway's Department Store Refurbishment

Highway is pleased to have completed an extensive refurbishment of our Department store. The works were a continuation of our modernisation of the whole site, following our refurbishments to the restaurant & café, and the re-cladding & refurbishment of the garden centre. As well as giving a face-lift, the changes to the store also improve the flow of footfall around the store and provide more room around the payment points.

Our seasonal ranges are always very popular, and so the refit has allowed us to provide more space for these within the store, with larger ranges of garden furniture and barbecues in the summer, and an even bigger Christmas range for customers to look forward to in the Winter.

The refurbishment has cost around a third of a million pounds and brings the total invested into the site over the past five years to just over £1.2m, with more investment to come in the future as well.

We would like to thank the continuous hard work from all our team members along with the attention to detail of the local firms we have used for the project.Jamie TassellArea Manager

Highway's Charity of the Year is Norfolk Deaf Children's Society
NELSONS JOURNEY LOGO

Meet Our Charity of the Year, Norfolk Deaf Children's Society

Every year, all the stores in the Roys Family nominate and then vote for a charity of the year. The contributions to this charity mainly come from the 10p we donate from every plastic bag sale but donations at special events, dress-up days etc. all go into the pot!

Last year our Charity of the Year was Norwich Foodbank and we raised £1,026 to donate to them.

This year we're hoping to raise even more for an important local charity and a very worthy cause - with your help!

The Norfolk DCS today is made up of parents of deaf children, young deaf people, people who work with deaf children and friends and family of both deaf children and of the Society. The Society is parent led and is run purely on a voluntary basis. We aim to support all deaf children, young deaf people and their families in overcoming the challenges of childhood deafness.Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society

In 2022 Highway Raised £1,026 for Norwich Foodbank!

Roys are proud to announce the donation of £1,026 to Nelson's Journey, a donation which was made possible through sales of carrier bags throughout 2022.

The charity was chosen as Highway's charity of the year for 2022. The charities of the year are nominated by staff, shortlisted, and then voted for so we can support charities close to each team's hearts.

We recognise that ending hunger is about more than food. We support and encourage our food banks to provide compassionate, practical support to people in crisis to tackle the root causes that lock people into poverty and build people’s resilience so they are less likely to need a food bank in the future. Highway refurbishment press release

Highway Garden Centre's New Look!

Pictured: Area manager Jamie Tassell impressed with the exterior renovation of Highway Garden Centre following the completion of the cladding project.

The 18-acre Highway Garden Centre in Framingham Pigot reached a milestone this week smashing the £5 million turnover for the current year, with weeks in hand.

Roys invested heavily in the site over the past two years. A major refurbishment to the restaurant and café with award-winning designers Kiwi and Pom increased the seating to 360 covers and transformed the look and feel of the food area to be fresh and contemporary.

The large garden centre has recently been fitted with cladding to improve the shopping environment, ambience and reduce energy usage. The interior of the garden centre, founded by Joe High in 1991 has also been refurbished to carry a broader range of garden products.

With further investment lined up for 2022 the Roy family think they have room to grow further.

We think we would meet the criteria for the top 100 garden centres in the UK at this moment in time so we are working on growing it into the top 50. With so many new gardeners this year and with the popularity of our Christmas events - which are now sold out - we couldn’t have a better launchpad to achieve our ambitions and we are looking forward to what 2022 holds for us. We are grateful to our loyal customers, our brilliant staff and our suppliers for joining us on this journey, helping us make it happen so far and I’d like to wish every one of them a very Merry Christmas!Paul RoyBuying and Marketing director

Bringing Back Smiles

Nelson’s Journey’s vision is that every bereaved child in Norfolk will look forward to a positive future, empowered to reach their full potential. Since 1997, they have been supporting children and young people in Norfolk with their bereavement needs, helping them to understand and cope with their feelings. The charity also supports professionals in the county who work with children, such as teachers and health workers, to help raise awareness of issues affecting bereaved children.
